Education levels

how does it differ from other levels?
D3
Duration is 3 years, with a practical and applied focus. Graduates are ready to work immediately as administrative staff, secretaries, or operations admins. Less theory, more hands-on practice. A good fit if you want to enter the workforce quickly. Degree: A.Md.A.B. (Ahli Madya Administrasi Bisnis). Offered at many state polytechnics such as PNJ, Poliban, POLSRI, PNB, and Polines.
D4
Duration is 4 years, an advanced vocational program equivalent to an S1 but with an applied approach. It focuses on operations management and advanced business administration with extensive industry practice. Degree: S.Tr.AB (Sarjana Terapan Administrasi Bisnis). A good fit if you want a bachelor's-equivalent degree while still focusing on direct job skills. Offered at Polban, PNJ, PNUP, and Polibatam.
S2
Master's in Business Administration (M.AB) or MBA, lasting 2–4 semesters (54–55 credit hours). Strategic focus: leadership, business research, case studies, and a thesis. Designed for working professionals who want to move into managerial or senior consulting roles. Unlike an S1, which builds a foundation, an S2 deepens strategic analysis and research. Offered at ITB Jakarta, Universitas Brawijaya, Unpad, and Telkom University.

Facility Checklist

GUIDE

Questions specific to Business Administration to bring to an open house or campus visit. Important facilities vary by program — these matter most.

Note: Myjor doesn't maintain a facilities database per campus. This is a tool for you to assess it yourself.

Is there a computer lab with the latest office software (Office 365/Google Workspace)?
Is there an office administration lab for work simulations?
Does the library have access to business journals and online databases?
Are there air-conditioned classrooms with projectors for presentations?
Does the campus provide a stable Wi-Fi connection in the study areas?
Is there a career center that helps students find internships?
Is there a language lab for business communication courses?
Is there a discussion room or co-working space for group assignments?
Is there access to ERP software or business databases for practical sessions?
Are there partnerships with companies for student internship programs?

Tip: ask for a tour of the relevant labs/studios, not just the main building. Ask about access hours and whether undergrads can use the equipment.

Academic Quality

GUIDE

Three objective ways to assess a program's academic quality — including how to check them yourself.

A

Program accreditation status

Check the program's own accreditation rating (not just the campus's) on official sites. International accreditation is a plus for certain fields.

Unggul / A — top tier Baik Sekali / B Baik / C

Check at: BAN-PT (banpt.or.id) or the relevant LAM, & PDDIKTI (pddikti.kemdikbud.go.id).

B

Student–faculty ratio & how to calculate it

ratio = active students ÷ full-time faculty
Example: 600 students ÷ 25 faculty = 1 : 24
Ideal: ≈1:20 for STEM/science fields, ≈1:30 for social sciences/humanities (per Ministry of Education guidance).
!The smaller the second number, the more attention each student gets. Above 1:40 is worth flagging.
!Also check faculty qualifications (Master's/PhD) and whether there are industry practitioner lecturers.
C

Faculty research — relevant & current?

Look up faculty profiles and publications (Google Scholar / SINTA). For Business Administration, look for those researching currently relevant topics:

Human resource managementMarketing and consumer behaviorEntrepreneurship and SMEsModern office administrationOperations management and logisticsDigital business and digital transformationCorporate governanceBusiness policy and trade regulationFinancial management and bankingOrganizational communication

E.g., is there faculty researching AI, or cancer-related topics? Active research topics signal the program keeps up with the field.

ASK AT THE OPEN HOUSE

"What's this program's student–faculty ratio? What research topics are faculty currently working on? What percentage of graduates find field-relevant jobs within 6 months?"

05

Partnerships

GUIDE

Campus partnerships heavily shape internship, research, and career paths. Which partners matter varies by program — here's what's relevant for Business Administration.

Industrial internships
Is there an internship pathway to companies? An MSIB / Kampus Merdeka internship program? Ask how many students are placed each year.
Professional business associations
Is there collaboration with associations such as KADIN, APINDO, or HIPMI for student activities?
Professional certification
Does the campus provide a BNSP (Badan Nasional Sertifikasi Profesi) certification pathway or office administration certification?
MSMEs and business incubators
Is there a business incubator program or MSME mentoring that students can join?
Banking and finance
Is there collaboration with OJK or financial institutions for financial literacy programs or internships?
HR and management consultants
Does the campus have consulting firm or HR partners for guest lectures or job placement?
Joint industry research
Is there collaborative research between lecturers and companies that students can get involved in?
Request list of active MoUs
Ask for a list of active MoUs, not just logos on a brochure. Ask how many students are actually placed each year.

Ask for a list of official partners with active MoUs — not just logos in a brochure. Ask how many students are actually placed each year.
